The commandery as a monument

What makes the former commandery of Bubikon into a monument of national importance? And how do the old walls reflect the period from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, the change from commandery to residential use and warehouse? The tour is aimed at all those who are interested in the history of the preservation of monuments and their questions.

Knights of order today

Are there still knights today and what are they doing in the 21st century? The tour of the former commandery shows the traces of change in religious life and at the same time makes clear how the ideals and rules of the Order’s founder are still lived out over 900 years later. The Catholic Order of Malta and the Protestant Order of St John, for example, are still dedicated to their original task: nursing the sick.

The weapons collection of the family Johann Jakob Vogel

More than 150 years ago, Johann Jakob Vogel, son of a Zurich merchant family, collected antique weapons such as halberts and swords with great dedication. Around 220 of these collectors’ items can be admired in the Ritterhaus Bubikon. Do the weapons tell of battles and heroism? And who were their owners and makers? Our weapons historians know the answers to these and many other questions. An entertaining and informative guided tour for young and old.
